I am a graduate of the Department of Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology. I am currently attending the interdepartmental postgraduate program of the University of Crete entitled "Molecular Biology and Biomedicine". My scientific interests focus on the regulation of gene expression, in light of the three-dimensional structure of chromatin, and how it is altered or deregulated during cell differentiation or abnormal cell function, respectively.
"Generating a Stable Transgenic Parhyale Hawaiensis Line Expressing H2B-HaloTag"
Cloning H2B-HaloTag to a Minos plasmid, microinjecting the plasmid along with Transposase mRNA to 1cell Parhyale embryos, and screening for transgenic animals, with a GFP-Opsin marker.
"Fascinating Insights into Pax6 Point Mutated Gene: Unveiling Surprising Functional Resilience through Ectopic Expression in Drosophila Melanogaster"
Revealed that a point mutation, initially considered to be a loss of function, unexpectedly retains its protein function, leading to the development of anticipated eyes.
"Nuclear Periphery as a Physical Barrier Against Foreign DNA: A computational approach"
I analyzed DamID-seq raw data, to investigate whether there is a correlation between the density of viral elements of the genome, and their distance from the nuclear periphery.
"Deciphering the Isoform Specific Phase Separation Potential of SATB1"
Cloning, Expression and Isolation/ Purification of the two protein isoforms of SATB1, a genome organizer responsible for the correct maturation of T-cells.
