I was responsible for the production of the Greek credit card application (called in Greek “Ethokarta”). I read in the card reader with Hollerith’s punch cards, that the cards process into the mainframe, and the output comes to our printer.
It’s also remarkable that it was the first time when the credit card appeared in Greece. It was for me the best experience that ever had. Everything is so well organized and I am blessed for that. Also, I was responsible for all the foreigners, not Greek credit cards and I produced a magnetic tape reel once a week called INET and I sent it abroad. Also, I was responsible and qualified for the Embossing Machine Data Card 2000 in which I wrote a documentation and instruction manual for the above machine. The application of the Credit function l creates a magnetic tape reel in which the E.D.P. Manager gives 1000 empty cards and gives back to him the real credit cards with the names of the customers. Of course, there are sometimes problems and the cards have not been printed properly, and I can make them manually. But for high-security reasons, I had to get back the 1.000 to the E.D.P. Manager whether they were good or not and physically signed a receipt and delivery protocol. I wrote a subroutine in Cobol check digit modulus 11.
