Integrated opto-fluidic device for high-power living cell exposure and detection Everhardt Arnoud, Konstantinidis Vasileios, Paul Kapteijn et al. Microfluidics, BioMEMS, and Medical Microsystems XXII - 2024 Genome editing, particularly molecular surgery, holds immense promise in 21st century genetics. For clinical applications, safe and efficient editing is essential. Light-induced molecular surgery, with precise control over wavelength and exposure time, is a powerful tool. It also aids in cel detection. Our work combines integrated photonics and microfluidics using the TriPleX waveguide platform. By focusing living cels in a microfluidic channel, we achieve >90% survival rates. Chemicaly deactivated CRISPR/Cas9 molecules are activated by laser light, paving the way for safe molecular surgery.
